Parents of older teens/young adults (17-25),   Parents of adult children

The Academy of Cognitive Therapy works to identify and credential mental health professionals who demonstrate competence in cognitive therapy. You can locate a cognitive therapist certified by the Academy through this directory; such providers include physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other mental health professionals from around the world.

Tip

Use this resource as a means to ensure that the provider you are thinking about contacting or are receiving services from, is in fact, certified in cognitive therapy. The Academy of Cognitive Therapy is the only certifying organization specifically for cognitive therapists that evaluates applicants’ knowledge and ability before granting certification.

How to Use

Learn more about the Academy of Cognitive Therapy by browsing the general website.

For the young adults/adults population, use the cognitive therapist locator.

You can search by a specific therapist’s last name; by country, by state, city or zip code. Use the search results to click on a therapist to learn more. Results will provide you with available information about the office location, contact information, treatment specialization, populations served, therapy formats and more.

Who Should Use

Parents interested in learning more about cognitive behavior therapy as an option for their child should use this resource, including parents of young adolescents (12-16); parents of older teens/young adults (17-25); and parents of adult children.
